"The Book of Awesome"
I finished reading this book and I just couldn't wait to share it with all of you. It's one of those books that you actually feel like reading and feel good and bad at the same time after reading. The author, Neil Pasricha has won the Best Blogger of the World award with his blog titled 1000awesomethings.com.
I am not sure of how to relate culture to this topic, yet I felt his book was very 'one-culture' type. There were so many things that were so common and could be applied to any individual in the world. His introduction about how these small tiny things in life can actually make us happy and can be applied to almost everyone, probably means that we all are the same deep within. Maybe we all feel happy with the tiniest things in life that we don't know about and are unable to appreciate. This book does it FOR you.
With a very moving and touching motivation, Neil started his blog after losing his best friend and getting separated from his wife. That is what drove his motivation and I would encourage you all to watch his video on TedxToronto : http://tedxtoronto.com/speakers/neil-pasricha/
This can be related to the theory of "The Future of Online Media and the Digital Age" by Grazian in his book 'Mix it up'. He points out that "the digital age is marked by the rise of three interrelated phenomena: convergence of content across multiple mass media platforms and industries, the active participation of audiences that co-produce their own media experiences, and the harnessing of collective intelligence as an emergent form of media power". And this is what exactly happened here with Neil Pasricha. He generated content, shared it with his parents who shared it with other people and the traffic of his blog doubled in few hours. The readers of his blog started to participate and give feedback and suggestions to add more little 'awesome' things to his blog and thus was created this strong content that won the hearts of thousands of people.
At your free time, this is totally worth a read!!
